Robotized monitoring of transportation systems of mining fluids and digital twin
DESCRIPTION
The monitoring of the tailing transportation systems y a critical job to assure reliability and sustainability of the mining operations. Due to the constant abrasion generated by the material transported, these wall structures can suffer wear and damage.
Therefore, Maquintel has implemented a robotic system which enables monitoring the damage due to wear and which is able to perform a full structural evaluation.
In the case of Codelco Andina Division, the first service was performed during the year 2016, and the periodic inspections have been carried out since 2018, every six months along the 87 km of tailing canals. Since then, we have collected several terabytes of data which have enabled us to detect critical areas and improve the maintenance process and control of works in the Division, having had no incidents during the operation which has increased reliability.
Before this system we took at least a couple of years to inspect and measure the wear in the traditional way with topography.
